Anchor the project in its environment

Responding to the APUI Devenir Tours (Call for proposals on innovative urban projects), our team designed and organized this unique block at the front face of the Barraks ZAC (Joint Development Zone), adjoining Tours’ future National Choreographic Center ; the design built on the remarkable vegetal patrimony in the heart of the block.

Our architectural approach is diversified and contextualized :

  • Le faubourien : a discontinuous urban front where the ground floor basis is only heightened by two volumes at FL3 that strictly follows Tours’s city houses uncluttered style. The buildings in the background are set in a higher roof-lining, going from FL4 to FL5.
  • The Belfry FL7 : a rational building with mixed vocabulary, combining school of architecture and housing. The school of architecture covers a volume that fits into an altimetric plan which does not exceed FL3. The school acts as an open base looking onto the street and the heart of the block, and is a vector of urban animation. It is also the basis of several floors of housings with generous openings.
  • The Belvedere FL7 : overlooking the public garden laid at the foot of the TNCC, and beyond, the university domain and the future park in the heart of the Joint Development Zone, it is one of the new area’s landmarks. Following the track of the tramway, its commercial façade (restaurant and grocery) fosters a city square-like atmosphere, while the soaring line of the housing building tells people around about the existence of a downtown area. Slightly lopsided and open on the outside, it shows as much as it is seen, and offers inhabitants a outstanding panorama on the city.

Materials : brick facing for the façades, stained or painted concrete – lacquered metal ironworks for the railings
