Portray the river Loire and Nantes insular history

For the year 2000 celebrations, this project was lead by the association “Palettes”, and was designed with the constraint of using this single material as a medium of reflection.
Seen from above, this structure – 80 by 20 meters – represents the former islands of the river Loire before the fillings in Nantes. It is made up of 13 000 pallets, piled up in columns by 15. Seen from the ground, the structure forms a labyrinth in which one can wander.

A playful project, an ephemeral structure echoing the history of the place and the triangular trade.
